The Construction Manager - Utilities role leads utilities construction projects supporting industrial estate development from initial planning through to completion. The position is responsible for coordinating utility infrastructure, contractors, schedules, budgets, quality, and safety to support timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and supervise utilities construction projects supporting industrial estate development from initiation through completion
Oversee the construction and installation of water supply, wastewater, electrical, utility networks, and other supporting infrastructure
Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, contractors, and construction activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, contracts, and technical documents related to utility systems
Coordinate with engineering, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing teams, Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams, consultants, contractors, utility providers, and other stakeholders to ensure the proper execution and integration of utility systems
Monitor construction progress, installation quality, testing, commissioning, and the handover of utility systems
Identify and resolve technical, coordination, and site-related issues that may affect project quality, cost, or schedules
Ensure compliance with applicable technical standards, safety regulations, environmental requirements, utility requirements, and company standards
Implement quality control and risk management procedures and prepare regular progress reports for management
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
At least 8 years of experience in utilities, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, or construction project management, including at least 4 years in a managerial role
Proven experience in industrial estate, utilities, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, or large-scale civil development projects covering at least 500 hectares
Strong understanding of utility systems, construction methods, project scheduling, and contractor management
Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills
Excellent communication and coordination skills
High integrity and a strong commitment to safety and quality
Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Project Management Professional certification or another relevant professional certification is preferred
