Our client is a growing Indonesia mining logistics and coal hauling company with their major operations in Kutai East Kalimantan. Our client belongs to a larger holding company stemming from Hong Kong.

Currently they are seeking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to strengthen their finance leadership team in order to support their next phase of operational and project growth. 

 

The role will focus heavily on operational finance within a fleet and trucking environment, including manpower calculation, site level cost control, and two year forward cost forecasting for ongoing and upcoming projects.

 

You would be working closely with operations and project teams to ensure accurate budgeting, cost visibility, and financial discipline across multi site operations.

 

The position is well suited for someone with strong experience in mining services, coal hauling, or logistics operations, particularly those with hands on exposure to fleet based costing and project finance.
 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

Operational Finance and Cost Control

Act as the primary finance partner to operations, overseeing end to end financial control for fleet and trucking based activities.


Monitor and analyze fleet operating costs, including fuel, maintenance, rental, depreciation, and utilization.


Ensure cost per ton, cost per km, and project unit costs are accurately tracked, reviewed, and reported.


Review and challenge operational cost assumptions to ensure alignment with contractual and project realities.

 

Project Based Budgeting and Forecasting

Prepare and manage project level budgets for active and upcoming operations.
 

Build and maintain rolling cost forecasts, including 18 to 24 month forward projections, based on operational plans and contract timelines.
 

Perform variance analysis between budget, forecast, and actual results, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
 

Support management with scenario analysis related to changes in volume, fuel price, manpower, or project scope.

 

Manpower Cost Planning and Control

Oversee manpower cost planning, including headcount requirements for drivers, mechanics, and site support teams.
 

Work closely with operations and HR to align manpower planning with shift patterns, productivity targets, and project schedules.
 

Monitor overtime, contract labor, and manpower efficiency to prevent cost overruns.
 

Analyze manpower cost trends and recommend optimization opportunities without disrupting operations.

 

Fleet Asset and Capital Management

Manage financial oversight of owned and leased fleet assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal.


Evaluate rent versus buy decisions for fleet and heavy equipment in collaboration with management.

 

Ensure accurate asset registers and financial reporting related to fleet utilization and lifecycle costs.


Support capital expenditure planning for fleet expansion or replacement.

 

Financial Reporting and Governance

Oversee monthly and annual financial closing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.


Prepare management reports covering project P&L, fleet performance, and operational cost metrics.


Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets, particularly in remote and site based operations.

 

Treasury, Cash Flow, and Risk Management

Manage cash flow planning and monitoring, aligned with project timelines and payment milestones.
 

Oversee treasury activities, including banking relationships and payment approvals.
 

Identify financial risks related to operational execution, contracts, and cost volatility, and recommend mitigation actions.

 

Cross Functional and Site Collaboration

Work closely with operations, project, procurement, HR, and commercial teams to ensure financial discipline across sites.
 

Provide financial guidance to site teams to improve cost awareness and documentation quality.
 

Support management in strategic decision making related to project execution and operational efficiency.
